John Piper’s book “Desiring God” is described as a life changing book. It will change your concept about the Christian life. According to John, people should seek joy, happiness and satisfaction in God. He is an embodiment of all these desires. Recently, the senior pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, John Piper, introduced its updated version of the spiritual classic “Desiring God”. Piper advises people to live according to the Scripture, as it reveals everything that makes people happy. Our role in this world is to glorify God and to find full enjoyment in worshiping His glory.

The purpose of John Piper’s book “Desiring God” is to spread the supremacy of God. The only way to get closer to our Lord is by glorifying and enjoying His deeds and creations. Those who seek deep and enduring happiness will find them only by believing in God. He is a source of immense happiness and satisfaction. We should accept God not only as our Savior, but also as a soul-satisfying treasure. “Desiring God” has the power to turn your Christian world upside down. It’s time to restore your faith in God.

Even though John’s dad was a traveling evangelist, he had nothing to do with the church at early age. He pursued his degree in literature at the Wheaton College, and completed his doctoral work in Germany at the University of Munich. He became a chancellor of the Bethlehem College and Seminary, where he was teaching for six years. An inner voice was telling John that he need to do something more in his life. That’s when his passion to God showed up. God was actually calling him to serve as a pastor at the Bethlehem Church in Minneapolis and to spread out His word. John is an author of several books like “The Momentary Marriage”, “A Parable of Permanence”, “Don’t Waste Your Life” and of course his best seller “Desiring God”.

With his book, Piper wants to help Christians all around the world to live a life in a different and more satisfying manner. In his introduction, John explains how he turned into a Christian hedonist. He even gives the same convictions and verses that challenged him to change his beliefs. The revised edition of “Desiring God” includes 10 chapters that express discussions on different topics related to love, worship, the meaning of the Scripture, money, prayer, missions, marriage and suffering. A perfect book for all Christian believers.
