Whether it’s a cracked trash can, a busted truck bumper or anything in between, there’s a good chance it’s fixable with duct tape. But how did this miraculous tape came to be, and who were the first to use it? Well, to many people’s surprise it was the U.S military in World War II. And if Uncle Sam used this tape as their tape of choice, it means that it’s pretty good right? Fun fact – it was originally called duck tape. Let’s discover what exactly makes this tape so popular and widely used all around the world.

Duct-Tape

Exceptional Durability

The biggest benefit by far the duct tape features is, without a doubt, it’s durability. It’s extremely durable and strong compared to most other types of tapes on the market. When you tape something up with this tape, you can rest assured it will hold up for a very long time. It’s considered a staple item in many industries and homes. It’s often used to tape air ducts and it will make them stay taped up for a couple of years before having to be replaced.

Supreme Strength

Besides being durable, it’s incredibly strong. You can use it for a lot of jobs where you can’t use any other tape, and you can rest assured it will hold. It provides inherent strength, and you won’t be able to rip it out easily, which can sometimes be seen as a bad thing. With the amount of strength it has, it can potentially support a lot of force or weight without being damaged.

Water Resistance

Another great reason to opt for duct tape is the water resistant properties it possesses. Remember when I said it was initially called duck tape? Yeah, it’s because water just rolls off of it like it does on a duck’s back. Many other types of tape aren’t able to hold up to any type of moisture. You can even use this tape to cover a hole in a water hose, or patch a hole in a plumbing pump. However, keep in mind that this isn’t a permanent solution, so you best still address these issues in a timely manner.

Adhesive Power

It’s not only the tape that’s exceptionally strong and durable, but the adhesive as well. You can use it on virtually any surface without any problems, and it will stick. This just furthermore confirms the reputation the tape has for versatility, power and durability.
